A proposal to build a footpath on the Stafford street extension of Riverside road was made to the Gisborne Borough Council last night by Cr. H. H. De Costa, Who pointed to the danger of pedestrians walking on the roadside. The borough engineer, Mr. F. R. Thomas, was instructed to submit a report. Those present at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council were: The deputy-Mayor, Cr, J. H. Hall, presiding, Crs. H. H. De Costa, t. Tolerton, G. D. Muirhead, E, Harris, A L Singer, R. Morse, H. E. Maude, and G. Bradley Smith. The Mayor, Mr D W. Coleman, M.P.. and the town clerk, Mr. W. M. Jenkins, were absent at the Municipal Conference. Mr. W. Selves undertook the duties of the town clerk.
