INCREASED REVENUE
MUNICIPAL BUS RETURNS
BUSY PERIOD TIME-TABLE
An increase in the revenue earned by the municipal buses was reported to the Gisborne Borough Council last night by the bus manager, Mr. K. G. Ball, when reviewing the fortnight ended February 26.
Mr. Ball stated that during the past fortnight the revenue per mile averaged 11.95 d, compared with 11.89 d a year ago. Fares collected totalled £303 2s 4d, and specials and subsidies brought in £23 4s Gd, a total of £326 6s lOd, the figures for the corresponding period last year being £283 9s lid, £43 10s, and £326 19s lid respectively. Tire buses ran 6553 miles during the past fortnight, compared with 6596 miles during last year’s period, passengers carried totalling 29,416 and 27,023 respectively.
Referring to the new buses recently brought into the service, Mr. Ball stated that they were easier to handle than the old ones, and there was no difficulty in keeping to the time-table in busy periods.
