A small entry drew a small attendance ol vne public at the Matawhero sale yards to-day, for the sixth Ewe fair conducted oy the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association, outside buyers being conspicuous by their absence.
Values in several cases were just a little better man at the previous lair, out in most cases no improvement was seen. The quality of (the entry was unattractive and the total yarding of iTUi was disposed of before lunch.
Best 2-ths made from 15s 3d to 16s 9d, with medium sorts at 11s (3d and 13s. for six-year ewes, 7s 6d was the highest price. Five-year ewes ranged from 8s od to 11s ?d; five and six-year made up to 12s Bd, and four, six and eight-itooths from 6s 9d to 13s 4d. Prices:—
Two-tooths.—Fifty-four, good size and condition (p), 16s 9d; 148, good size, good store condition, 16s; 87, fairly good size, good order, 15s Sri; 142, mixed sizes and condition, some light, 12s; 117, good store condition, good average size, 15s sd; 139, do., good condition (p), 15s 3d; 151, on account of Papakuakura station, ordinary size, store condition, 12s; 166, on .account Kia Ora station, medium size and condition, 11s 6d; 96, medium size, good condition, 11s 7d; 25, wellgrown, with condition, 15s 9d; 24, small and light, 5s lOd. Six-year Ewes. —One hundred and seven, on account of Mr. J. H. Gardiner, good mouths, store condition, 7s 6d; 69, low-level teeth, on account of Papakuakura station, store condition, 5s Id; 97, good mouths, rough skinned, fair condition, 7s; 79, good store condition, 4s; 15, good teeth, freshconditioned, 6s.
Aged Ewes. —One hundred and eleven, fair mouths, good store condition, 3s 6d; 120, low-level mouths, store condition (p), ss; 206, good, forward, 2s 3d; 57, .low conditioned, Is 7d.
Five and Six-Year Ewes.—Eightyfive, store condition, no bid; 128. good teeth, store condition (p), 3s 9d; 72. good teeth, good condition, cu account of Mr. D. Black, 12s Bd.
Mixed-Aged Ewes.—Two hundred and fourteen, four, six and eighttooths, store condition, 18s 2d; 167. mostly 5-year, good store condition, 7s lOd; 124. six-tooth up, good store condition, good teeth (p), 5s 6d; 79, 4 and 5-year, fair to store condition (p), 6s 9d; 83, 4, 6 and 8-tooths, good store condition, 13s 4d; 36 do., good store condition (p), 7s. Five-Year Ewes. —One hundred and thirty-eight, good store condition, 10s Cd; 158, on' account of Mr. H. Telford, good condition, 11s; 144, in good order. 11s 6d; 70, good frames and teeth, with condition, 11s 7d; 37, good condition, 8s 6d.
