FANCY DRESS BALL
TOKOMARU BAY FUNCTION CHILDREN’S FETE ( II era 1 d Correspond on t.) Organised by the Tokomaru Bay Women's Institute, the children’s fancy dress ball was held at the Te Puka Hall on Friday. Ice-cream, raspberry and orange drinks, balloons and the varied fancy costumes made it a real gala night. Enjoyable items were given by Bebe Kopua, John Forrester and Jack Sampey. A lucky spot waltz was won by Robin and Peter Gardner, a Monte Carlo by Georgina Davidson and Stanley Ransjey.
Mrs. J. Williams and Mrs. A. Ilibbett trained the children. Mrs. Williams also played for the dances, the Wi Hapi orchestra supplying the music for the adults. Mr.-J. J. Roberts and Mr. F. Bigneil were very efficient M.C.’s. The committee, who are to be congratulated on the success of the function, comprised Mesdames J. Williams, W. Nevin, ,T. S. Nugent, C. Lark, M. Forrester, A. All Saints’ Guild There was a fair attendance ot members at the meeting of the ladies guild of All Saints’, held in the Te Puka Hall recently. It was decided to hold a bazaar about the second week in November. Those present were Mesdames .1. L. Grant, D. Powell, J. Todd, S. Te Ohaere, H. Fairlie, E. Hollever, N. Newlands, A. Malcolm, E. Ilankey, Miss E. Busby, and the Rev. A. H. Morris. Maori Ladies’ Guild Members of the Maori ladies’ guild held a successful sale of work on Saturday, the sum of £25 being realised. Those in charge of the stalls were:—Cakes, Mrs. Taumutu and Miss Brown; fancy, Mrs. S. Bruce and Miss Hills: jumble, Mrs. S. le Ohaere; produce, Mrs. Puha, M. Andrew, and P. Hadfield; afternoon tea, Mesdames J. Cockery, I. and 11Newton.
