HOTELS V. RAILWAYMEN
MATCH AT THE OVAL Cricket teams representing the local railway staff and hotel employees met in a week-end match on the Oval last week-end, the game resulting in an outright win for the hotel workers.
A summary of the scores is as follows:
Railwaymen.—First innings. HI for 11 wickets (K. Perston 63. Joyce 28. Dean two wickets for 23 runs, Welsh five for 15. and Barnard four for 24); second innings. 34 for nine wickets (K. Perston 14, A. Dean eight wickets for 18 runs).
Hotel Workers.—First innings, 157 for 11 wickets (A. Dean 89. Durie 13, T. Welsh 10, extras 20. Joyce five wickets for 39 runs. I. Presland three for 47. J. Charles two for £5); second innings, 80 for nine wickets <E. Walters 20 retired, Durie 15 retired, T. Welsh 15, Presland two wickets for 25 runs, Charles two for 21, and Nicholls two for 9).
