The bi-weekly air service between Kolhapur and Bombay, via Poona, was opened by the Maharaja of Kolhapur. The service, which is conducted by Air Services of India, Limited, owes much to the Maharaja, who took a keen interest in the project and was responsible for the selection of the site of the aerodrome.
