PLUNKET SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING (Herald Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Nuhaka branch of the Plunket Society was held at the residence of Mrs. T. W. G. Tombleson. Mrs. J. Goldstone. the president, who occupied the chair, in presenting the third annual report thanked all for their loyal support. During the past year 12 subscriptions were collected, which unfortunately was not so good as the previous year. The annual dance resulted in a profit ot £ls 13s. Much appreciation was extended to Nurse Grant, district nurse, for her hospitality to Miss Coad. Plunket nurse, and also to Mr. G Boyd for providing transport. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. J. N. Powdrell; vicepresident, Mrs. G. B. Steele; hon. secretary and treasurer. Mrs. P. .1 Brewster; committee, Mesdamcs T. W. G. Tombleson. R. Steed, jui)., W. Nepia, M. Ryan, Berry. F. Thompson. Nurse Grant, and Miss 1. Mackenzie. On behalf of the society, Mrs. Powdrell made made a presentation tc Mrs. J. Goldstone, who is shortly leaving the district. Mrs. Goldstone suitably replied. It was decided to hold the annual dance in April. Gardening: Circle The monthly meeting of the Gardening Circle was held at the residence of Mrs. K. Stewart, the popularity of the gathering being shown bj the record attendance. Mrs. M. K Shaw presided, and others presen' were Mesdamcs K. Stewart. P. J Brewster, A. T. Glenny, W. Houston W. Kerr, J. P. Millar, T. McKec, W Nepia, A. Richardson, M. R. Shaw. G. B. Steele, T. Torowhiti, F. T. Woodley, F. H. Young, Nurse Grant, Mis.I. Glenny and Miss D. Shaw. The hostess conducted the member around the beautiful garden. Mrs Millar gave an interesting talk oi. "What to do in the garden during the month. A discussion took place about nonmembers of the Women's Institute belonging to the gardening circle. It was obvious from the views expressed by most of the members of the institute, that it was Immaterial so far as they were concerned. The twe members in question stated that they would gladly resign, rather thai, cause any disruption. The president stated that there were several sheknew who would like to join a gardening circle but who were not members of the institute, and it would be a pity to see any debarred from joining. A proper ruling would be furnished. The competition:* resulted: —Bow? of Mixed Flowers.—Mrs. A. T. Glenn;, 1; Mrs. K. Stewart, 2. A crystal vast presented by Mrs. M. R. Shaw, was won by Mrs. K. Stewart, for mos! points during the year. A delicious afternoon tea was provided by the members. Nuhaka Anglican Guild A meeting of the Nuhaka Anglican Guild was held at Mrs. P. J. Brewster's residence, those present being Mesdames P. .1. Brewster, W. Houston, J. P. Millar. J. McKenzic, W Nepia, .1. Pearson, M. Ryan, R. Steed. G. B. Steele. T. Torowhiti. F. T Wooriley. and F. H. Young. Mrs. J P. Millar was elected president, and Mrs. F. H. Young secretary. Meetings will be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at "The Vicarage," until the new Unity Hall is completed. Arrangements were made to hold a produce stall or. March 18 in aid of the funds of the church.
