EDUCATIONAL WEEK

YOITNG FARMERS' EFFORTCAMP AT HASTINGS ARRANGEMENTS FOR MAY A Young Farmers' Clubs' educational week is-' to be held in Hastings during the second week in May, when it is exuected that up to 250 visitors from all partS of Northern and Southern Hawke's Bay, and other North Island districts, will be attending. Tentative arrangements were considered at a meeting of delegate? frotr. the Northern and Southern Hawke's Bay district committees of the Ycun£ Farmers' clubs, held in Hastings. Mr. W. G. Brownlie presiding. It was decided to hold the camp from Monday, May 8, to Saturday May 13, provided suitable arrangements oan be made with the Hawke't Bay Jockey Club, for the use cf it; grounds on those dates. It was suggested that it might be possible to obtain the use of the Drill Hall t r accommodate some of the visitors. Considerable discussion arose over the question as to the number whiel could be catered for. It was pointer" out that when 350 Young Farmer: had attended an educational week ir Palmerston North last year the number had been found unwieldy when the visitors had' to be transported about the district. Having this ji view, and the fact that accommodation facilities in Hartings are limited it was decided to restrict the number who may attend to 250. The Dominion organising-secretary, Mr. S Freeman, is to be asked to circularise all North Island clubs asking the number desirous of attending. In the event of a quota being necessary, it was decided that this should bf assessed on the basis of club membership. Divided Into Sections Arrangements for the actual organisation of the camp and the routine were discussed. Among other things it was decided to divide those attending into sections' of 30, each comprising three groups of 10. To each section will be appointed one marshall and. three group leaders. So far as the discipline is concerned the camp will be conducted on the military system.

An effort is to be made to include visits to various studs and for demonstrations: en Romneys, Southdowns. Dorset Horns, Ryelands, Aberdeen tAngus, Herefords, Milking Shorthorns. and Jerseys at some central point, preferably the Tomoana showgrounds A visit to agricultural properties was also suggested, taking in an inspection of subterranean clover kinds.
