NEW ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS

SWEDISH DESIGNED LONDON, Nov. 5. The new anti-aircraft gun to which reference was made in Parliament by Mr. L. Hore-Belisha is a product of Sweden. It is known as the Bofors, and is the equipment for light antiaircraft brigades. It is a two-pounder highly-mobile gun of the pom-pom type and similar in design, though not so large, as the naval pom-opm. It has a high rate of fire which can be used on what is known as the “hosepipe” type. Some of the newly raised light antiaircraft units are already equipped vvitn it. The guns were used at some of the practice camps in the summer. These were made in Sweden. As in the case of the Bren light machine-gun, which came from Czechoslovakia, the Government has acquired the manufacturing rights and arrangements have been made for production in this country.
