CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL

COMMITTEE SET UP

(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. ' Further steps to decide upon the form of Auckland’s principal centennial memorial were taken at a conference of local bodies in the metropolitan area last night. The conference was called as a result of the decision of the previous conference to ask if local bodies would agree to associate themselves in a combined endeavour for the provision of such a memorial. It was decided last night to set up an executive of City Council representatives and Mayors and chairmen of local bodies to consider the form of memorial and report recommendations to a plenary conference of local body representatives on March 1. The senior magistrate in Auckland,

Mr. W. R. McKean, was invited to act as chairman. It also was decided to invite written public suggestions, returnable by January 10.
