BEQUESTS TO CHURCH

£3OOO FOR BUILDING FUND FOR CHARITIES A bequest of £3OOO will become available to St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Hawera, from the estate of the late Mr. John Hicks, who died at Hawera on October 23, on the termination of a life interest. The money is left to the church trustees to assist in building a new church should the project be undertaken before the. expiry of 20 years. If the building is not commenced by 1958 the £3OOO will be paid to the managers of the church for general church purposes. ‘«

After setting aside various specified amounts and on the expiry of the life interest, the trustees are to hold the residue 4fl the estate, estimated at £7500, to create a trust to be known as the John Hidks Trust Fund, from which £SO per annum will be paid to the Presbyterian Orphanage, Wellington, and the residue applied to such charitable purposes within the borough of Hawera as the -trustees think fit.
