The opening of the Federal Government’s recruiting rally in Martin Place during the city lunch hour to-day was marked by angry scenes, m which leading Communists figured whilst they were distributing their own handbills, which the majority of the crowd regarded as offensive.
Heated arguments occurred and Communist speakers were howled down. The police were compelled to disperse the noisy groups.
