ST. LUCIA LANDSLIDE EE LI EF APPRECIA TED (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Dec. 1. The Governor of the Windward Islands has telegraphed to the Colonial Office further particulars supplied by the Administrator of St. Lucia, Mr. E. W. Baynes, of the casualties in the recent landslide in that island. The latest figures give a total of 107 known or assumed to be dead. The cases of a further 12 who are reported missing, are being investigated.
The Governor expresses the very deep appreciation of the colony for the grants totalling £16,000 voted by the British Government toward the relief of sufferers and for measures against infection by malaria. The sum of over £2OO has been raised privately in Grenada, supplemented by gifts, stores and clothing.
