Poverty ay Croquet Centre The Poverty, Bay. Crqquei. Centre entertained the president and secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Croquet Association, Watkins and Mrs L. Ashworth, at the Gisborne Croquet Club’s greeds yesterday afterhbon. Ideal summer weather favoured the gathering, which Was attended by members of the three local croquet clubs. Enjoyable games were..playsed during the afternoon, in which. the visitors took part. Mesdames Watkins and Ashworth also gave demonstrations of various shots and strategic moves in the popular game to an interested audience. Iceland poppies and marigolds adorned the tables in the Gisborne Bowling Club’s ’pavilion; where a dainty tea was served. Before the party.departed from thg pavilion Mrs. Derbyshire, president of the Poverty Bay Croquet Centre, expressed the pleasure the Gisborne croouet players had had in meeting Mrs. Watkins. In reply Mrs. Watkins said she was very pleased to come and had enjoyed her brief stay in Gisborne, and added that sh.e hoped her visit wpuld be cf benefit: to .the pin vers j .-/<> ; -Among those, present ; .were...
