NAPIER "WOOL SALE

BROKERS’ REPORTS

Do REEK 'GET. MeI,KOI) A CO

■Messrs. dePelichet, McLeod and Company, Limited, report having Held their first wool sale of the season in Napier yesterday, when they offered 3077 bales, practically the whole of which was sold under the hammer. "The attendance of buyers was quite as representative as usual, if not more so,” the report states. “Competition was exceedingly keen from start to finish, and values realised were most gratifying. Certain super coarse wool, really specialty wools, obtained the highest prices, several lines of this type .realising 14d and up to 14d in our catalogue. The finer quality wools did not command the same interest, though prices for super qualities reached 13.3 d. The Continental buying section was exceedingly keen after piece wools, and competed to high values, though Bradford was always in the buying.

"Some extra quality necks obtained excellent figures, Kopanga, Swastika and Punawaitai/ECN bringing 1 l:{d. All kinds of piece wools were well above anticipations. To give a practical illustration of the position, wc are giving records of comparisons of some well-known brands at the first sale last season and yesterday's sale. It is doubtful if ever Hawke’s Bay growers have placed before buyers •better wool, certainly not since the 1924-25 season. Our binned and interlotted wools met with most gratifying competition.”

The following are some comparisons between this season's and last season’s prices, last season’s prices being in parentheses:—
