INFLUENZA TREATMENT

TESTS IN ENGLAND IMMUNISATION CLAIMED LONDON, Oct. 26. A claim that a new treatment will give virtual immunisation against influenza is. made by Dr. HoylandSmith, a police surgeon at Leeds. A committee states that 52 policemen vplunteered for treatment. They were very susceptible to influenza, and had been absent from duty in the past six years, because of influenza, on an average of 11 days a year, but after treatment they averaged only 1.7 days away from duty. Forty-six of the's2 enjoyed complete immunity after treatment. The preparation administered was in the form of tablets which were swallowed. The cost of the treatment is between 5s and 6s and the reaction is hardly noticeable. It does not necessitate absence from work. Dr. Hoyland-Smith will shortly explain the treatment in articles in medical journals.
