MANAWATU GORGE SLIP
BLOCKAGE ON ROAD

(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. Following heavy rain during the last 24 hours, a slip came down In the Manawatu Gorge overnight and completely blocked the road which, however, was cleared sutlicicntly lo permit traffic to go through at 8.30 o’clock this morning, though care is still needed.
The countryside bears a sodden appearance. A strong wind yesterday did some damage to fruit trees and plant growth in exposed places.
