PRISONERS SENTENCED

W ELLINGTON SESSK )N (Tim- Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day by Mr. Justice Reed. Eric Lewis Hooker, aged 50, was sentenced to three years' hard labour on three charges of incest. Frederick Hilton, aged 28, was given nine months' hard labour for theft. His Honour said the prisoner had numerous convictions in England and had deserted from his ship in NewZealand in April. On this occasion he stole an attache case containing money and cheques while acting as a porter at an hotel. His Honour said he took into consideration that the prisoner had not destroyed the cheques. Henry Barrett." aged 42, was given 18 months' hard labour for attempted theft, His Honour remarking that thu prisoner's record was a bad one and for the protection of society, he had to be imprisoned for as long as possible

James Patrick Mahoney, aged 57, was awarded 12 months' hard labour for indecent assault on a male at Wanga'.iui and lan Clifford Pram, aged 20, was admitted to probation for two years on the same charge.
