Doric Star, for Homeward loading, November 4. COAST. AL TRADE The Koutunui, which discharged Wellington cargo here yesterday, berthed alongside the Pakura this morning to receive cargo for Waikokopu. The Pakura arrived at Gisborne early this morning from Lyttelton, Wellington and Napier. She sails at midnight for Coast bays. Portland and Auckland. The Margaret W. arrived at Gisborne at 7.45 a.m. to-day from Auckland. Tokoniaru Bay and Tolaga Bay. She completes discharge and loading about 5 p.m. and sails for Auckland. The Pukeko arrives at Gisborne tomorrow morning from Auckland, via Coast bays. She is to be dispatched in the evening for Napier and Lyttelton. The Poolta is en route from Greymouth and Westport to Napier and Gisborne. She is due here about Monday or Tuesday next to discharge coal, timber and posts. The Awahou loads at Wellington tomorrow and on Saturday for Napier and Gisborne. She ship is due here on Tuesday. The Wainui, from Bluff and Dunedin. leaves Oamaru and Timaru today, Lyttelton to-morrow, and after working Wellington comes on to Napier and Gisborne. The vessel should discharge here on Wednesday, October 19. KOPARA'S MAIDEN VOYAGE On her maiden voyage from Antwerp to Wellington, via India and Australia, the Richardson Line's new motor ship Kopara is reported by cable to have reached Port Said at the week-end. THE NEW KOMATA Cable advice has been received by the Union Steam Ship Company that its new cargo vessel Komata was successfully launched on October 10 a" the yards of Messrs. Alexander Steplien and Sens. Limited. Glasgow. The Komata is a single-screw steamer of 31150 tons gross, designed for a service sliced of 12 knots, and will he employed in the intercolonial trade. Captain W. A. Gray will command the Komata. which is expected to leave the United Kingdom early next month Cor New Zealand. OFFICERS APPOINTED The appointment of captains, chief officers and chief engineers of its new cargo ships Kurow and Karitane has been announced by the Union Steam Ship Company.

Captain M. MacKcn/.ie has been appointed to the command of the Kurow. which will be completed at the end of the year by • Messrs. Alexander Stephen and Sons, Limited, on the Clyde. The chief officer will be Mr. A. P. Cousin, and the chief engineer Mr. F. McConville, formerly of Gisborne.

The master of the Karitane. to be completed in January by Messrs. Henry Robb, Limited, of Leith, will be Captain C. C. Waters. His chief officer will be Mr. A. J. McKeir/.ie, and the chief engineer Mr. R. W. Fceney.
