The experiments are of particular importance at present, as it is hoped that a market wii be built up which Will compensate ft the recent loss of the Japanese trad, in casein. Several shipments of casein have been made by the New Zealand Casein Company, Wangaiuii, to Englisn firm interested in the manufacture of imi ted ion wool from casein. The manufacture of imitation woo in attracting the attention of some o the big English companies which make artificial silk. It is not considered likely that the new composition would take the place of pure wool, but it would provide a cheaper substitute. Besides England. Germany and Italy are taking a keen interest in the manu factuve of imitation wool from casein.
