AN UNUSUAL FISH
When the motor-vessel Port Waikato was recently olf Mayor Island a strange type of fish, with a tail like a barb of an arrow and 10 tentacular arms equipped with suckers, was washed on deck by a large wave. It was secured by Mr. J. D. Walker and sent by him to the Auckland War Memorial Museum. It has been identified as an arrow squid, which is related to the octopus family and which feeds at different sea levels.
