JEWISH MIGRANTS
LIFE WITHOUT HOPE FREMANTLE, July 19. A party of 80 Jewish migrants from Poland reached here in the Orama today on their way to Melbourne. They were not communicative about conditions in their own country, but they gave the impression that it was the sheer hopelessness of the outlook, rather than fear of persecution, which had caused them to migrate. Among them are farmers, tradesmen, and_professional men and their familile* “Things are not too bad,” declared one young Pole, but another said, “Conditions for Polish Jews are getting worse day by day, and hour by hour.” The Orama also carried 117 Dalmatians, 36 of whom disembarked at Fremantle.
