EXCESS WHEAT SUPPLY
PROSPECTS FOR SEASON RECORD IN PRODUCTION (Reed. Aug. 3, 2.40 p.m.) OTTAWA, Aug. 2. The prospects of a good world wheat price did not appear very bright, stated Mr. Len Hutchinson, the chairman of the Alberta Wheat Pool Board. There appeared to be every possibility of more wheat than the world needs, he said. The world production figures this year exceeded the bumper year, 1928, by at least 200,000,000 bushels. He hoped that the world wheat advisory board would reach an agreement similar to that of 1933, when each country agreed to sell only an allotted auota.
The provincial Department of Agriculture declares there has been a considerable decline in the Saskatchewan crop prospects in the past fortnight through heat and lack of moisture.
