A conference of representatives ol seamen and waterside workers to-dav assured the miners’ leaders of their support in the event of a general strike on the coalfields being declared. Referring at Ilughcnden, Queensland. to the threatened industrial trouble, the Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, said a strike would cause chaos throughout Australia and the chief sufferers would be the workers and their dependants. He l'clt sure that common sense would prevail.
