WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
OPENING OF CONFERENCE ADDRESS BY MINISTER (Per PreßS Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The Minister of Health, the Hon. P. Fraser, opened the Dominion conference of the Women's Institutes at the Town Plall to-day. He was accompanied by Mrs. Fraser. The delegates were welcomed to the city by the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop. Mr. Fraser said that all matters of importance in the lives and homes of the people were embodied in the aims of the institutes. He congratulated the movement on its rapid growth in New Zealand. Government assistance had been given in the great work being done among the Maoris. He would be pleased to endeavour to bring about any further co-operation that might be desirable between the institutes and the various Government departments. He expressed the hope that the new maternity hospitals and services in every part of the Dominion would, in a few years, be something that other countries would look up to.
