TRACK AND STABLE

HORSES FOR SOUTH LIANE AND ROCKINGHAM P. ATKINS' MOVEMENTS By "Trenton" Liane and Rockingham left Wellington for ißiccarton last night, and will compote at the Christchureh Hunt Club's meeting on Saturday. Liane will be ridden by A. E. Bennett, who was on her when she ran second lo Monipere in the Winter Oats on the last day of the Wellington meeting. P. Burgess will ride Rockingham, and he will also ride Lone Raider. Yours Truly also left last night though he is not engaged until the National meeting. Atkins' Engagements It is quite proba'ble that P. Atkins will not 'be riding at the Turf Club's meeting on Saturday as he will have a number of engagements to fulfil at the Awapuni meeting. Bonnie Rollox Bonnie Rollox was produced at Tirnaru and fills the eye as a rather good type (comments "Sentinel"). He appears to have got through a fair amount of work and had no difficulty in getting over the 'fences. This is not surprising, as his form in Australia suggests that the Tirnaru country would be easy for him. He finished fifth in a field of 10, and Nocturnus, giving 51b, was 'behind the Australianbred gelding, so that on the very latest form he ranks on about a par with the topweight in the Grand National Steeplechase. Bonnie Rollox was making his first appearance this season. Laggard Sold Mr. F. Kettlewell has sold Laggard to Mr. H. Jones, Hastings, who raced High Grader in recent seasons. Once a Leading Owner

'Memories of the years when he was one of the most successful owners in the Dominion were revived at Matamata on Saturday, when 'Mr. R. Haunon won the first division of the Pairere 'Handicap with the littlefancied Very Glad. In the years from 1914 to 1930 Mr. Hannon raced extensively and his colours, cream jacket and red sash, were among the best known on Auckland courses. His jumpers, such as Roman Abbey and King's Guard, kept his name to the fore. Following an illness several years ago he reduced his racing activities almost to a minimum, and his colours seldom appear nowadays. Going to New Plymouth S. Wilson will be at New Plymouth on Saturday to do the riding for R. Johnson's stable. Remembo and Donadea

Remembo. with L. J. Ellis up, was a strong tip for the Levels Hack Handicap at Tirnaru, for which he started favourite. He began well and carried en and followed Donadea into the straight, but could not overhaul him. Remem'bo had started three times previously without getting placed. He is a rising five-year-old 'brother to Membo, being 'by Balboa 'from Sweet Memory. Donadea, who won, was once offered at £lO to be used as a polo pony. He is showing improvement, and apparently gathering stamina. Donadea is a rising five-year-old gel'ding and was got 'by Valkyrian from Liskanar, by Nassau. Padishah Arrives The .Hastings owner-trainer, Mr. J. A. Hennah, has arrived at Rieearton from the north with Padishah, who is to contest the Longbeach Hurdles on Saturday. It is intended to school Padishah in company with Top Rank to-day. He had very little jumping before leaving Hastings because of 'bad tracks, tout has always been a natural hurdler, and with to-day's task and a race on Saturday, he should 'be in the right order -for his later engagements. Present intentions are to start him in the Jumpers' Flat race on the first day of the "big meeting, tout he will not be eligible for this race until he completes the course in the Longbeach Hurdles. The race is for horses that at the time of starting have completed the course in at least three steeplechases or hurdle races. Padishah has contested only two hurdle races, one at Hastings and one at Awapuni, finishing unplaced in each. C. P. Shield, who is to ride Padishah in his races, has not had much experience as a hurdle rider, 'but has done well on the flat, and has ridden Padishah in earlier schooling although if will be remembered that Shield rode Summerhill to victory on 'both days at the last Poverty Bay meeting. Veteran 'Chaser Valpeen left Wellington for Riccarton on Tuesday night. The veteran 'chaser looks well, and his owner is confident he will run well in the National. End of the Season The 1937-38 racing season concludes this week with the Poverty Bay Turf Club, 'Manawatu Hunt, Christchureh Hunt, and Taranaki Jockey clubs' meetings.
