At a public meeting attended by 80 people, addressed by Mr. A. Leigh Hunt, chairman of the Dominion Settlement Association, last evening a resolution was passed as follows: "That the meeting draws attention to the serious position of the Dominion on account of the sparse population and the imminent decline, which is fraught with the gravest consequences, are urges the vital importance of all Parliamentarians and public: men actively to support the formulation of a long-range plan for the introduction of suitable migrants from Great Britain on a .substantial scale under planned and financed schemes, and urges that a Dominion conference, representative of all interests, be held not later than October for the above purpose."
