Two more burglaries have been reported at Hamilton, in one instance a school being entered and in the other money being rilled from the till ol' a confectionery shop. A persistent rumour that he would be contesting the Palmerston North seat as an Independent at the general elections has been denied by Mr. R. L. C. Aitchison, Palmerston North. An unusual accident befell Mrs. W. Cotton, Hastings, while picnicking recently. While the billy was being boiled for lunch the lid became jammed and was blown oIT by the pressure of steam. Mrs. Cottpn was badly burned on the hand and arm by boiling water. She received first aid and was later treated by a doctor.
