HIGH DAIRY COW PRICES
WAIKATO ('LEAKING SALES
Record prices have been paid for dairy cows at Waikato clearing sales this season, with the Ibes't quality cows dost to profit being traded at prices to £ls.
At a clearing sale of 'Mr. P. B. Holmes’ dairy herd, Matamata, thin week, however, The figure of £2O 10s was paid for an outstanding cow, this being the highest realisation this season. The cow in question was in calf to a pedigree bull.
OPOTIKI DAIRY VALUES PIUCKS UP TO £l3/5/A special dairy sale was held at tlie Oputiki saleyards. A very good yarding came forward; comprising two complete herds, which were purchased at very .satisfactory figures by a large attendance of buyers. The top price for the day was .till! 5s for a good type of Jersey cow due to calve early.
Other prices were:—.£ll to £l2 10s for good early calving sorts; £9 to £lO 15s for others; late cows, £7 to £8 10s; backward and inferior, £4 15s to £5 ss.
Some very choice lines of heifers were offered, but competition was not keen, although one line was passed in at £7 5s
