TOO STRONG FOR COLTS

CELTS’ RUNAWAY WIN Celtic 41 pts., Old Boys Colts 3 pts. Celtic proved to be too strong for Old Boys’ col'ts on Saturday afternoon and had a runaway win by 41 points to /three. When it was seen that Celtic was in an unbeatable position the interest of the spectators was devoted to the attraction on the grandstand ground.

The superior Celtic pack dominated the play and did not open up many opportunities for; the colts. The lineou't of the Celtic backs was interesting, B. Malofie playing at first fiveeighths, A. McAneney at second, A. Milligan as a winger, and a junior, Normington, on the other wing. It was an experiment that succeeded, and the usual fullback, Malone, combined well with McAneney in some bright cut-ins. To bring the team up to strength the services of five juniors were required.

With the colts, combined play in the forwards was lacking. Certainly they were up against a rugged forward team, but the colts offered little protection for their backs. With more protection, the back line would have ben able to make more ground for its side. If they concentrated more on this point, the team should develop next season.

The scorers for the winners were A. Milligan, A. McAneney, and B. Malone, two tries each, and F. McAneney, J. Symes, J. Walker, and J. Milligan. J. Milligan goaled a penalty kick and converted two tries, and T. Stevens and J. Symes converted tries. Gilgren 'registered the points for the colts with an unconverted try. The referee was Mr. A. Worthington.
