UNSUCCESSFUL APPEAL
DEATH SENTENCE ON JEW
UNREST IN I’A RESTIN'I
(Reed. June 25, 1.30 p.m.) JERUSALEM, June 24
Unsuccessfully appealing against the death sentence passed on Solomon Ben Joseph for firing on a bus and carrying arms, counsel said that if it was carried out it would be the first time a Jew had been executed in Palestine since the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D. Appeals for clemency were received from Jewish communities throughout the world.
Widespread terrorism continues. Three people had been killed and 10 wounded in 24 hours. Three Jewish youths were kidnapped when returning to work. It is feared that they are dead.
