The Gisborne Sports Club has been /forced to abandon its professional championship meeting for this season owing to the condition of the Victoria Domain track after the recent heavy rain. The fixture was previously announced for April 20, but owing to wot weather it was postponed until to-day. An official of the club stated ■this afternoon that the grounds were in a hopeless condition yesterday, parts Of the track being stilt under water. “Owing fo the large volume of traffic between Gisborne and Napier it has been found necessary to abandon the early morning GisbornePalmerston North run in the meantime,” said an Official of East Coast Airways to-day. “In place of the 7.15 a.m.. service, the 'two planes now leave Gisborne at (1.50 a.m. lor Napier, and the other daily services irom Dnrton Field, Gisborne, are at 9.15 a.m. and noon. These planes, and even the midday one, connect with the Union Airways' DJI. 85 which is now leaving Napier daily at 2 p.m. for Palmerston North and connecting with tile southern airlines.
