CAPSIZE OF BOAT FATAL
PIG HUNTER DROWNED ESCAPE OF COMPANION (P«r Press Assoe.intinn.) ROTORUA, this day. As a result of the capsize of a small boat in which two men were crossing the Waikato River near Ongaroto. Cyril Hedge, aged 43, married, of Hamilton, was drowned and his companion, Joseph Winstanley, also of Hamilton, had a narrow escape. The two men were members of a
party of seven engaged in jng bunting. ' Tbe reason for the capsize of the boat is not known, but owing to the swift current of the river at this point and the turbulent rapids just below, anyone precipitated into the river would have a small chance of survival unless an exceptionally strong swimmer. A search is being carried out lor the body.
