Mr. Koshnitsky will arrive in Auckland in seven weeks and is a pleasing lectui ci. and very good at simultaneous play. The election of officers was deferred for a week and consideration of the proposal to reduce the subscription also was postponed. judge H. Carr was enthusiastically elected a life member in recognition of his handsome services to the club. It was thought that the 1938 club tournament would be started on Saturday as it would not take many minutes to deal with the deferred business. Correspondence was received from Napier asking for the support of the Gisborne club in the claim of Napier as the venue of the 1938 congress. It was decided to favour the proposal and co-operate as much as practicable.
