FRANKLIN RACES

FIELDS FOR PUKEKOHE EXCELLENT ACCEPTANCES WIN AND PEACE RETTING CARD REVIEWED (By “Trenton.”) Good acceptances have been received for the Franklin Racing Club’s winter meeting, to be held at Pukekohe tomorrow. The win-and-place system of betting will be in operation. 11.45—I’ukekawa Hack. As a result of his win at Avondale, Prival will be strongly fancied. Forest Acre failed at Avondale, but that can be overlooked. Abbey Lass, Du Mauricr, and Dragon Moth all read well, while on the minimum Silver Eagle and Mai de Mer cannot be counted right out. The favourites may include this trio, if Abbey Lass is reserved:—

PRIVAL, DRAGON MOTH, FOREST ACRE. 12.30 —Papakura Hurdles. Celtic Lad, High Star, and Hunting Star filled the places in the hurdles at Avondale on opening day. Innes Lad is a recent winner, and Gay Broney, Count Rousillon, Golden Spahi and My Money are not without chances. However, form points to: CELTIC LAD, HIGH STAR. INNES LAD. I.ls—Otaua Handicap. Bright Idea ran a good second to Prival at Whangarei. Senacre, General Riske, and Rajanya have some form, and Cintrace ran a splendid race for third in the Dominion Handicap on the second day at Avondale. Form suggests good prospects for: CINTRACE. RAJANYA, SENACRE. 2.o—President’s Handicap. A field of 12 runners is due to line up for the big race on the day’s programme. Of the top-weights, Airam and Grateful, the former may be preferred after his win at Avondale. Rona Bay has always done best when weighted under 8.0, but the class is not strong. Tybalt has failed since winning the Whangarei Cup. Valmint will need to improve on recent displays. Miss Lu is well and may be dangerous. Shy will not be suited if the track is soft, and present conditions make that appear probable. Oil the minimum, Cheval de Volee and Sinking Fund are more than possibilities. Fancies are sure to take a fairly wide range, but these may be well supported:—

AIRAM, MISS LU, CHEVAL DE VOLEE. 2.45 —One where Steeples. Windsor Lad has pride of place and should race prominently in this company. Saint Musk makes an appeal, and Mio Lnme is consistent. Lueidus was unlucky to be beaten by Neil at Ellerslie, while on the minimum Count Rousillon may run well. Some to command attention may be: — LUCIDUS, WINDSOR LAD, MIO LUME. 3.3s—Harrisvilie Hack. Loombination and Alyth filled minor places at Avondale, and that should bring them into favour. Ringshot :s due and Fleelwind was a good fourth at Avondale, where Barrister also ran well. Maxown, Mai de Mer, and Vaalso should offer softie opposition. The favourites may be, in the absence of Abbey Lass: — LOOMBINATION, ALYTH, FLEETWIND. 4.20 —Pacrata Handicap. Tosh and Sir Abb head the list, ann the former is likely to be better supported after Sir Abb’s recent failures. Rona Bay and Miss Lu would not be without prospects, if reserved. Crooning will have the track to his liking, and the same applies to Lornacre. Palustre, Tonnerre, and Galilee all ran good races at Avondale, and will not be neglected. In a good betting race these may be best supported:— TONNERRE, PALUSTRE, TOSH. THE ACCEPTANCES.
