PROVISION FOR STOCK

FLOOD-SWEPT AREAS AID IN HAWKE'S BAY (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. -The provision of fodder for stock, the removal and subsequent grazing and care of stock from the areas Stricken by the flood is to receive the attention of the Hawke's Bay branch of the Farmers' Union. ~A special meeting was held in Hastings this morning to fully discuss ways and means of lending assistance to those settlers whose properties have been so severely damaged, especially in the Esk Valley and neighbouring district. .The outcome of the meeting was that ,a committee of all present was formed. Immediate steps are to be taken to make contact, if possible. with the affected settlers in an endeavour to arrange for the care of their stock.

The union made a donation of £25 to a national fund. Further heavy rain fell overnight and this morning. The rivers hdve ngain risen, but not to an alarming state.
