DAY'S HOLD-UP ENDED
COASTAL SHIPS RESUME OFFICERS DISSATISFIED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The hold-up of small coastal vessels at Wellington, comprising the Kaitoa, Gale, Kapiti, Hawera, and Echo, which began on Monday, ended yesterday when these vessels resumed running. The masters and officers of the ships in the coastal trade were dissatisfied with the conditions of their employment, and in order to hold a meeting to discuss matters, the presence of sufficient officers was necessary. This would not have been possible had all ships continued running. The masters and officers met on Monday and yesterday, and following further discussions, it was decided to meet the owners again. The ships thereupon took up their usual sailinglimes. Negotiations are still proceeding as a result of yesterday's meeting.
