OBITUARY
The death has occurred at Ngaruawahia of Tumati Mahuta Te Wherowhero, second sou of a former Maori king, Mahuta Te Wherowhero, and uncle of the present king, Koroki Ma huta Te Wherowhero, at the age of'4b years. Tumati took a prominent pari in negotiating for compensation ii connection with the confiscation of native lands in the Waikato, and he wielded considerable influence in the affairs of the Waikato tribe,
