HOCKEY SEASON

OPENING ON SATURDAY GRADING TOURNAMENT TRTAL GAME IN NAPIER Arrangements were completed by the Poverty Bay Hockey Association last night for a grading tournament for the opening of the season on Saturday.

It was agreed that the games should commence at 2 p.m., and that they should be played full time, after which the club delegates should select teams for the two grades. A bell would be sounded at the time for starting, and those teams not on the field within five minutes would default their matches.

The draw for Saturday was made as follows; —First Round. —Wesleyan v. Scottish Society, Waitulii v. Muriwai. Foresters v. Y.M.C.A. (A), Defence v. Y.M.C.A. (B). It was decided to write to Hawke’s Bay asking if that would be a suitable date. The Manawatu association advised that it had already arranged to play a game with Feilding and Wanganui.
