PRESIDENT’S TROPHY FIRST ROUND (Herald Correspondent.) The first round of the President's Trophy was played on the Wairoa golf course during the week-end under ideal weather conditions, but the course was heavy owing to the recent flood. Despite this fact, nowever, practically every game was keenly contested, finishing either on the seventeenth or eighteenth green. The results were: Benson and Glengarry beat Grummitt and Gilkison; Piddusk and Steedman beat Pattison and McQueen; Crawford and Harvey beat Crichton and Prebble; Smith and Wynne Jones beat Irwin and Withers; Bauld and Bauld beat Ryman and Thornley; Ballon and Millar beat tie Lautour and Clark; Watson and Robson beat Horne and Thomson; Goldstone and Duncan beat Scott and Ryan; Craig and Martin beat R. M. Mowat and Hinckesman: Sainsbury and Youngbeat G. Mowat and O’Connor; Jones and McDonald beat Pomarc and Morrison; Heslop and Krogh bea, Boyes and Pinch Smith and Crawford were successful in their challenge against Pattison and Pomare, for the Moore Tikis, while A. E. Smith withstood the challenge oi H. M. B. deLautour for the Barker Feather, senior division, after a wellfought game which finished on the twentieth. Members are reminded that this year nominations will be taken for the Ormond Rose Bowl. A nomination sheet is now posted in the clubhouse and entries should be made before May 8.

LADIES’ GOLF AT PARK QUALIFYING ROUND DRAW .MI D-WEETv COMPETITION A qualifying round will be played on Thursday by the lady members of the Gisborne Park Golf Club. Play will be over either 12 or 18 holes and club members are to arrange their own starting times. Cards will be available at the clubhouse. Following is the draw:—Mrs. Winter and Mrs. Hutchinson; Mrs. Robertson and Mrs. Lunken: Mrs. Swainson and Mrs. Williams; Miss McLean and Miss Hinton: Mrs. Hall and Miss Gordan; Mrs. Marlcy and Mrs. Michie; Mrs. Johnstone and Mrs. Vickers; Mrs. Hughes and Miss Winter; Mrs. White and Mrs. McDonald; Mrs. Heighway and Mrs. Lee; Mrs. Forbes and Mrs. Owen, Mrs. Bayliss and partner. The weather was trying last week, but some good cards were handed in. Mrs. G. Heighway winning the medal round and Mrs. Swainson securing the trophy for the mystery hole competition.

TOLACA BAY LADIES (Herald Correspondent.) The draw for the ladies’ medal round to be played on the Tolaga Bay golf links to-morrow is as follows— Mrs. G. Wilson plays Miss B. Weeks; Mrs. A.
