Blackpool beat West Bromwich Albion, 3-1. Bolton Wanders beat Middlebrough, 3-1. Brentford lost to Birmingham, 1-2. Derby County lost to Grimsby Town, 1-2. Everton beat Portsmouth, 5-2. Leicester City beat Charlton Athletic, 1-0. Manchester City beat Leeds United, 0-2. Wolverhampton Wanderers drew with Chelsea, 1-1. Second Division.
Blackburn Rovers beat Tottenham Hotspur, 2-1. Bradford beat Stockport County, 4-1. Ches'terfield beat Nottingham Forest, 1-0.
Fulham beat Bury, 4-0. Norwich City lost to Luton Town 0-4.
Plymouth Argyle beat Coventry City, 3-1. Sheffield Wednesday beat Burnley, 2-1.
Southampton beat Sheffield United, 2-1.
Swansea Town beat Newcastle United, 2-0.
West Ham United beat Manchester United, 2-0.
Sheffield United’s defeat has assured Aston Villa of promotion to the First League. Villa, with a match in hand, has 55 points. Manchester United and Coventry, each with a match to play, have 51 points.
Third Division (Southern Section). Aldershot beat Queen’s Park Rangers, 1-0.
Bristol City drew with Bristol Rovers, 0-0. Crystal Palace beat Cardiff City, 1-0. Exeter City beat Clapton Orient, 2-0. Gillingham drew with Torquay United, 1-1. Millwall beat Brighton and Hove, 2-0.
Newport County drew with Northampton Town, 0-0. Notts County beat Walsall, 3-1.
Reading beat Boscombe, 4-1. Swindon Town drew with Southend United, 1-1. Watford beat Mansfield Town, 2-0. Third Division (Northern Section). Barrow lost to Chester, 0-2. Crewe Alexandra 'beat Rotherham United, 3-1.
