Mr. H. F. Broadbent started on his flight to Australia at 3 a.m. yesterday and arrived at Athens at 2.37 p.m. He averaged 135 miles an hour to Athens. His time so far is good. A message from Athens states that Mr. Broadbent took off for Basra at 0.35 a.m. local time. The weather prospects were good. It is reported from Basra that Mr. Broadbent reached there at 4.10 p.m. Greenwich mean time. Mr. Broadbent is endeavouring to beat Miss Jean Batten’s solo flight record to Australia.
