SEEPING GAS VICTIMS

MENAGERIE ANIMALS AMERICAN WAREHOUSE (Elec. Tol. Copyright—United Press Assn.) NEW YORK. Dec. 8. Seeping gas from a heater killed 64 monkeys, birds, ant-eaters, alligators, tiger-cats, deer and other animals in the menagerie of an animal importing warehouse to-day. A policeman who smelt the gas summoned rescuers, who revived four alligators, an emu, an ant-eater, an ape. two monkeys, and three red doves. Thousands of tropical fish were not affected. They were in large tanks which were being equipped with compressed air tubes designed to keep the oxygen content of the water normal. The gas was thus unable to penetrate the tanks.
