REVERTING TO TARIFFS
PROTECTION OF TRADE AUSTRALIAN INTENTION (Reed. Dec. 8, 12.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Dec. 8. The Minister of Customs, Mr. T. W. White, announced in the House of Representatives that the Government would abandon the licensing system on which its trade diversion policy was based, and would revert to the use of tariffs to protect Australian industries.
