ACCIDENT IN THE BUSH
MAN DIES IN HOSPITAL SEVERE WOUND IN THIGH The death occurred at the Te Kuiti Hospital on Sunday of Mr. Angus Clark, aged 54, married, of Mangapehi, as the result of an accident in the bush at Mangapehi on Friday. Mr. Clark was struck by a post being slid down a wire from a higher level and received a large wound in his thigh. Mr. Clark was engaged with his son, Mr. H. Clark, and Mr. J. Bates, of Mangapehi, in wiring posts down 30 or 40 chains from a high flat. The two younger men were engaged in hooking the posts on to the wire and the de-? ceased was receiving them at the bottom of the run.
The coroner's verdict at the inquest was that the deceased died of gas gangrene supervening upon a large wound in the thigh.
