WASHDYKE RACES OUTSIDERS COME HOME ARGENTIC IN BIG EVENT KINNOULL WINS THE SPRINT (Per Press Association,) TIMARU, last night. The weather was cold for the first day of the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s spring meeting at Washdyke to-day. The track was fast and the attendance fair. The totalisator investments amounted to £10,430. On the Saturday of the October meeting last year, the turnover was £II,BOO. Results were: — Otaio Hurdle Handicap, of £l4O. The first payments for the New Zealand Trotting Cup are as follows: Bingen Palm, Gamble, Glenrossie, Lucky Jack, Pot Luck, Reporter, Tempest, Bonny Azure, Cloudy Range, Evicus, Graham Direct, King's Warrior, Rey Spec, Rollo, War Buoy, Willow Wave, Worthy Light, Blue Mountain, De Soto, Red Shadow, and Indianapolis.

MASTERTON RACING CHIEF EVENT TO MIGHT PAKANUI WINS FLYING ROAMING'S SURPRISE SEVEN (Per Press Association.) MASTERTON, last night. Keen and interesting racing, with some splendid finishes, were features of the opening day of the Masterton Racing Club’s spring meeting. In spite of the bleak weather, the attendance was well above the average. The totalisator handled £7348 10s compared with £5352 10s on the corresponding day last year.
