TWO FALLS TO ONE
BARRAGE OF JOLTS WOODS DEFEATS BLQMFIELD ONE OF ELIMINATION BOUTS (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. In a terrific barrage of jolts and punches, Woods beat Blomfield in a world challenge elimination wrestling bout this evening by two falls to one. The contest was hectic for six and a half rounds, both maintaining tremendous pace. . After three rounds of jolting ana punching Woods hurled Blomfield across the ring Mice and then dropped him in a heavy dump for a fall. Blomfield threw Woods over the ropes in the sixth round before finishing in with a flying trip, from which he rapidly developed an octopus clamp, Woods submitting quickly. The end came in the seventh round when Blomfield had Woods groggy. The latter, -released, a barrage of tremendous jolts, the last of which sent Blomfield flying through the ropes. He was unable to return, and had to be assisted away.
NOLAND BEATS JUDSON POOR DISPLAY OF SPORT (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, last night. In a bout marked by poor showmanship and lack of scientific wrestling, Dan Noland secured a decision over Frank Judson by two falls to one this evening. The bout was the worst seen in Wanganui since the advent of processional wrestling. Holds were few and far between, and the spectators were treated to an exhibition of hair and ear pulling, Kicking, biting, and unnecessary appeals to the referee. Had the refereestopped the bout in the second round and declared it no contest, the decision undoubtedly would have been popular with the crowd. At the conclusion of the bout the crowd voiced its disapproval In no uncertain manner.
