GUARANTEED PRICE
‘FARMERS NOT SATISFIED’ LOCAL AND LONDON RATES Opposition to the broadcasting of in formation that farmers were satisfied with the guarantted price was voiced at a meeting of the Tauranga branch of the Farmers’ Union. The chairman said that farmers were not satisfied with the price and statements that they were satisfied should be refuted. It was stated that the London price for butter to-day was 2Jd over the guaranteed price. The local price was below that of London. Previously the local price had been fixed in relation to the London parity. A resolution was carried unanimously as follows:—“That, seeing that the London price to-day would return 2|d a lb more to the producer than the guaranteed price; this meeting is of the opinion that dairy factories selling on the local market should be allowed to raise their prices equal to the London parity.”
