BOWLING AND TENNIS
KIA ORA SPORTS CLUE SECOND ANNUAL MEETING Keen enthusiasm in the prospects for the coming season was displayed by members of the Kia Ora Bowling and Tennis Club at the second annual meeting of the club on Monday evening. There was a good attendance of members, and Mr. G. P. Reid, the president, occupied the chair. In outlining the activities during the past season, the chairman mentioned that owing to the adverse weather conditions the attendances at the courts were not as large as they might have been otherwise. The courts were in good order and that fact augured well for a successful season. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — Patron, Mr. R. K. Murphy; president, Mr. G. P. Reid; vice-president, Mr. H. Lange; treasurer, Mr. C. Tietjen; secretary, Mr. R. J. Muir; committee, Mrs. F. Peddle. Miss M. Herbert, Messrs. I. Barboure, W. Marshall, L. Eade, and I. Cameron. It was decided to open the club's season on November 6. The improvements to the grounds that had been carried out during the year were outlined by Mr. C. Tietjen, who mentioned that the bowling green had been laid down and was ready for use. It was hoped that a croquet club would be formed during the coming season. A vote of thanks was accorded to the president for his work on behalf of the club
