R.N.V.R. CONGRATULATED
EFFICIENT WORK HELP IN TRAGIC RACE (Per Press Association.) . AUCKLAND, last night. "I think we had a very clear demonstration of the efficiency of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve the other day," said Rear-Admiral the Hon. E. R. Drummond, officer com'■Handing the New Zealand Division of ihe Royal Navy, in addressing the Auckland Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, after making his annual inspection to-night. "As you all know, we sailed the Diomede Cup .race, and you also all know the tragic finish of that race," Rear-Admiral Drummond said. "At the same time, it might have been more disastrous, and that it was not so was very much due to the capable handling and efficiency of the crew of the R.N.V.R. whaler." "The crew was instrumental, by the efficiency it showed, in probably saving the lives of several men, and it brought great credit on the R.N.V.R. I congratulate, them," Rear-Admiral Drummond added. "It just shows this training is all to the good, and their efficiency is proof of the work the R.N.V.R. is doing."
